CALIFORNIA'S FOREST FIRES AND GREEN NEW DEAL

California's wildfires destroyed Chico's residences leaving people with homeless. A serious shortage of housing increases the domestic attacks. California will face even larger fires in the future if the climate still affects the warmer and drier conditions.


Local politicians in neighboring Chico call for the small city to adopt its Green New Deal.


Why is Green New Deal important ?


Droughts and sea levels are expected to increase in duration and intensity causing flooding and endangered to California's water supply.


The Chico Green New Deal frameworks involve with rapid decarbonisation, a safe and sustainable food system, clean public transit, green jobs, and projects for the poorest residences.


"We can demonstrate what a Green New Deal looks like at the local level." said Chico Vice Mayor Alex Brown. She believes that this incident was "a glimpse of the future if the action is not taken". California wildfires provided the world examples of the disaster from climate change. A Green New Deal approaches are required especially investing affordable housing.
